An AI opportunity roadmap for MyPower.

Bird's AI Perspective ran a Core AI Opportunity Assessment with MyPower in a single onsite day. The output: a prioritised, phased roadmap with the top initiatives scoped end-to-end and ready to commission.

Solutions identified

29

Surfaced across the discovery. Twelve were shortlisted and prioritised onto the roadmap.

Business units

7

End-to-end workflows mapped across every function.

Initiatives scoped

3

The top initiatives scoped end-to-end, with workflow comparisons, time savings and fixed-fee build estimates.

Diagnostic

1 day onsite

A full day at the client's offices, walking workflows end-to-end across every function.

How the shortlist was drawn

Opportunities surfaced across the discovery were each scored on multiple axes and placed against the others. Twelve initiatives made the prioritised roadmap. The rest were deprioritised with reason recorded.

The question

Where does AI create real leverage, and in what order should we adopt?

MyPower had reached the point where operational drag was showing up in familiar patterns. Capacity pressure during peak periods. Senior team time absorbed by manual, repetitive work. Operational data captured across systems but not yet structured for analysis.

Leadership wanted a structured view of where AI fit, in what order, and at what cost. The brief was practical. Look at operations end-to-end, find the points of leverage, and sequence them by complexity and time-to-impact. Quote only what the discovery actually evidenced.

What it was not

A tool selection exercise.

What it was

A leverage map and a sequencing decision.

Our approach

A full-day onsite, then a structured prioritisation.

Core Assessments at BAP run as a structured diagnostic, not a discovery workshop. Three steps, one deliverable.

  1. 01

    Diagnose

A full day at the client's offices, walking workflows end-to-end across every function. Every manual touchpoint surfaced and captured.

  2. 02

    Prioritise

Every opportunity scored against impact, complexity, and time-to-impact. The shortlist sequenced into Quick Wins, Foundation Builders, and Strategic Bets.

  3. 03

    Deliver

A phased adoption roadmap with the top initiatives scoped end-to-end. Workflow comparisons, time savings, and fixed-fee build estimates included. Findings presented to leadership.

What we surfaced

Operational drag in well-understood patterns

  1. 01

    Capacity ceilings, not capability gaps

Throughput hit a wall during peak periods. The constraint was capacity, not technology or competence.

  2. 02

    Senior time on repetitive work

Manual, templated tasks absorbed senior operational time disproportionate to their commercial value.

  3. 03

    The data was already there

Years of operational data captured across existing systems, but not structured for analysis. The constraint was preparation, not collection.

  4. 04

No shared AI strategy in place

Pockets of curiosity, no organisation-wide framework for where AI fit, in what sequence, or under what governance. This assessment provided the starting point.

The opportunity surface

Where we found leverage

The surfaced solutions clustered into four areas. Most operationally mature SMEs find leverage in roughly the same places, in different proportions. The examples below are illustrative, not exhaustive.

Illustrative examples, not exhaustive

01

Process documentation

  • Workflow diagram generation from interviews
  • Standard operating procedure drafting
02

Customer operations

  • CRM follow-up sequencing
  • Proposal first-draft generation
03

Internal knowledge access

  • Technical reference lookup
  • Supplier and contract Q&A
04

Operational analytics

  • Anomaly flagging in operational data
  • Exception reporting from existing systems
How we prioritised

Every opportunity scored against impact, complexity, and time-to-impact

Opportunities surfaced across the discovery were each scored on multiple axes and placed against the others. The matrix below is a flattened view: impact on the vertical, complexity on the horizontal. Twelve initiatives made the prioritised roadmap. The rest were deprioritised with reason recorded.

01Scoring: twelve of twenty-nine
IllustrativeIllustrative reconstruction based on the published assessment record. Impact runs up the vertical and complexity and cost across the horizontal, which is the flattened two-axis view the record describes. Twelve marks, one per prioritised initiative, each in the quadrant of the roadmap category it was assigned: four Quick Wins, five Foundation Builders, three Strategic Bets. No per-initiative score is published, so positions within a quadrant are drawn rather than plotted, and no mark is named. The solutions that were deprioritised are recorded with a reason and are not plotted here.
The roadmap

Three categories, twelve initiatives, sequenced

The matrix produced three roadmap categories, each carrying a different commercial logic and sitting at a different point on the timeline.

02Sequence: three horizons
IllustrativeIllustrative reconstruction based on the published assessment record. The three roadmap categories against the 0 to 18 month scale the record uses: four Quick Wins at 0 to 3 months, five Foundation Builders at 3 to 9 months, three Strategic Bets at 9 to 18 months. Counts and horizons are as published. Bar length follows the horizon of the category; no individual initiative is named or dated.
  1. 4

    Quick Wins

    0 to 3 months

Highest leverage in the first 90 days. Low complexity, evidenced commercial value, immediate operational relief.

  2. 5

    Foundation Builders

    3 to 9 months

Mid-term work that unlocks downstream automation. Each builds infrastructure that subsequent initiatives reuse.

  3. 3

    Strategic Bets

    9 to 18 months

Higher-effort initiatives sequenced behind the foundations. Larger commercial upside, longer payback, executed once the groundwork is in place.

What MyPower did next

From roadmap to production

  • Two of the prioritised quick-win initiatives moved into delivery and shipped: a process documentation tool and a Copilot adoption training session.
  • A third initiative moved into formal scoping shortly after the assessment closed.
  • The remaining roadmap sits with MyPower to commission as priorities and capacity allow.
What MyPower owns

A roadmap they could act on with us, or with anyone

BAP assessments end with the client able to commission with anyone. The diagnostic is portable. The methodology is documented. Below is what MyPower owned the day the assessment closed.

  • The full opportunity inventory

Every surfaced opportunity, scored and grouped. The complete diagnostic, not just the prioritised subset.

  • The phased roadmap

Initiatives sequenced across three time horizons, with rationale for the ordering.

  • Top initiatives scoped end-to-end

Workflow comparisons, time savings, fixed-fee build estimates. Ready to commission.

  • An honest cost baseline

Cost savings quantified where evidenced. Throughput and revenue benefits flagged but not assumed.

The roadmap is MyPower's. Every initiative in it can be commissioned with us, internally, or with another partner. We don't hold any of it hostage.
